Cosmetology
Description:
The primary purpose of this Cosmetology course is to train the student in the basic skills, judgments, safety judgments, proper work habits, and desirable attitudes necessary to obtain licensure and for competency as an entry level cosmetologist or related position.

Educational Objectives
- Project a positive attitude and a sense of personal integrity and self-confidence.
- Practice proper grooming, effective communication skills, and visible poise.
- Understand employer–employee relationships and respect the need to deliver worthy service for value received.
- Perform the basic skills necessary for chemical application/hair treatment/hair dressing, hair styling, hair cutting, esthetics, and nail technology to enter the professional beauty industry as an entry level cosmetologist.
- Apply the theory, technical information, and related matter to ensure sound judgments, decisions, and procedures.
To ensure continued career success, the graduate will continue to learn new and current information related to techniques, communication skills, and teaching methodologies to improve teaching skills.
Entrance Requirements:
Students taking this course should have the following skills: Mac, Windows®-based personal computers, including the ability to: browse and search for information on the Internet; start up, shut down, and log on to a computer and network; run programs; and move, copy, delete, and rename files in Windows Explorer. Students should also have basic knowledge of computing concepts, including the difference between hardware and software; the functions of software components, such as the operating system, applications, and file systems; and the function of a computer network. High School Diploma/ GED
